Drywall Repair: How to Fix a Hole in the Wall This is the best way to fix a hole in your plasterboard drywall sheetrock gyprock. Any sized hole you can follow this method,
First you take your knife, cut any loose bits out Next grab a piece of plasterboard slightly larger than the hole Put the plasterboard over the damage, then get a pencil and trace around the board Now finish cutting around the pencil line and make sure your board fits Next we are going to add some timbers to support the plasterboard which will give us something to screw to Make sure the timber is larger than the cut out so it can extend over each end behind the wall
Screw the timbers in place – For a hole this size you don’t need stud adhesive Now you can just screw your new plaster to the new timber. Make sure the screw heads aren’t proud of the plaster sheet or you wont be able to set it now mix up some plaster compound scrape the area smooth to ensure there aren’t any obstructions
Now do what you can do to make it dry faster open some windows, use a fan, I’m using a hair dryer, don’t hold the heat too close though. Give the wall a scrape to get any loose high points So you want the wall dry and the rest of your compound still pliable.
Next put the next coat on, these two base coats cant really be sanded so try and get ir nice and flat and feather the edges I got the second coat on after 45 minutes and begin to dry this coat. Once dry can put the final coat, the top coat, this coat should exceed the other coats with feathered edges for a gradual finish around the perimeter. This job was finished in just over an hour.
